Moneylender strangled
A moneylender was strangled at Dakkhin Jaromnadi village in Sundarganj upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nikhil Chandra Barman, 25, son of Khetra Mohan Barman of the village. He was a money lender by profession.
Police and family sources said Nikhil Chandra went out of house after receiving a phone call and did not return home till midnight.
Informed by locals, police recovered the body from a bamboo cluster in the area early in the morning. His throat was tied with shirt.
The body was sent to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said SM Abdus Sobhan, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station.
The OC suspects that miscreants killed Nikhil and dumped the body in the area.
The mobile set of the victim was rescued from the spot, said the police official, adding that none was arrested in this connection as of filing of this report around 8:00pm yesterday.
