Missing housewife's skeleton found in haor
Police recovered the skeleton of an expatriate's wife from Elimpur Haor in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj on Saturday night, one and a half months after she went missing.
The deceased was identified as Sujana Begum, 19, daughter of Tulaffar Ullah of Bokterpur village in Inatganj union of Nabiganj upazila.
Police arrested three people including the victim's former boyfriend in connection with the incident.
On the evening of October 31, Sujana went missing on her way to Sayedpur and her father Tulaffar Ullah filed a general diary with Nabiganj Police Station the next day, police said.
On Saturday night, local people saw some bones and clothes in Elimpur Haor near Koikhai village under the upazila.
On receiving information, a team led by Habiganj Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Parvez Alam Chowdhury reached the spot and recovered the skeleton and clothes.
After seeing the clothes and the skeleton, Sujana's father Tulaffar Ullah identified it to be of hers, said the ASP.
Afterwards, police arrested three people, including Shahin Miah, son of Abdul Motin in Koikhai village, he said, adding that Shahin is former boyfriend of the victim.
The victim's brother Shahinur Rahman said his sister Sujana was in love with Shahin Miah, son of Abdul Matin of Koikhai village.
“But she married Joy Hosain of neighbouring Mostafapur village. A few days after the marriage, he went to Saudi Arabia. Taking the opportunity, Shahin started harassing Sujana in various ways,” he said.
Nabiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Ahmed said the three arrestees are being interrogated at the police station.
