Missing college girl found dead
Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a college girl from a ditch in Maijdee area in the district town, three days after she had gone missing on Sunday night.
The deceased, Tabassun Tania Chamak, daughter of businessman Shahajad Enamul Haque Himel, was an honours third-year student of accounting department at Sonapur College.
Chamak's father Himel said he and his wife travelled on intercity 'Upakul Express' train on Sunday and reached Maijdee Court Rail Station around 10:00pm.
While travelling, they had talks with Chamak, who told them over mobile phone that she would come to the rail station to receive her parents, he said.
After getting off the train they looked for their daughter and waited for quite some time before returning home, Himel said, adding that after reaching home they did not find Chamak there.
After failing to know Chamak's whereabouts, they informed the matter to Sudharam Police Station and filed a general dairy (GD) in this regard, he said.
On Wednesday evening, local people spotted Chamak's body floating in a ditch near their house and informed police, who recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Sudharam Model Police Station Anwar Hossain said they were investigating the matter and asked the deceased's family to file a case in this regard.
