A Marwari couple were found murdered in Joypurhat town yesterday.
The deceased were cloth trader Kishan Rangta, 58, and his wife Debi Rangta, 47, of Marwari Patty in the town. The couple have a daughter who stays in India.
Police recovered the couple's bodies from their house around 11:30am.
Locals said Kishan and his wife went to bed after taking their dinner on Wednesday night. In the morning, their domestic help found the main entrance open. As she found the couple lying on the bed till late morning, she called them for several times, but there was no response from them.
Later, she informed the locals about the matter.
Informed by locals, police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent those to Joypurhat Modern Hospital for autopsy.
Muminul Haque, inspector of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station, said criminals might have strangled the couple. Bruises were also found on the face of the woman.
"We are waiting for the autopsy report to know the cause of their death. Everything will be clear after investigation," said the police offical.
