Man whose leg was severed in Brahmanbaria clash dies

Mobarak Mia (45) whose leg was severed by a rival during a clash in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district, died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital last night.
Additional Superintendent of Brahmanbaria Police Mohammad Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to our Brahmanbaria correspondent this morning.
Earlier on Sunday, a rival cut off Mobarak's left leg and brought out a "victory procession" with the severed leg.
The video of the incident went viral on social media and generated public outcry across the country.
Mobarak's family members said the attackers severed his right leg also and hacked him indiscriminately. He died after fighting for his life for four days.
Mobarak revealed the names of some of the attackers involved in the incident immediately after the attack, said the police official.
He used to pull rickshaw in Dhaka, his wife Sabiha Akhter said.
He returned home because of the nationwide shutdown, she added.
"When the clash ensued, he entered his room and closed the door. Yet, he couldn't save himself," Sabiha said.
In presence of his wife, the attackers severed his leg, she added.
She apparently sought help from police, but they didn't respond, Sabiha clamed.
A total of 43 including two masterminds -- chairman Zillur Rahman and Abu Kausar Mollah -- have been detained so far in this connection and sent to jail, said the additional superintendent of police in Brahmanbaira.
Long standing dispute between Kausar Mollah and chairman Zillur Rahman has been continuing over establishing supremacy in the area.
