Man stabbed to death in Chandpur

A man was killed in an attack during a clash between two groups of youths in Haimchar upazila of Chandpur yesterday evening.  

The deceased was identified as Mobarak Hossain (20), son of Muktar Hossain Gazi of Bhengulia village in the upazila, reports our Chandpur correspondent.

Quoting witnesses, Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Haimchar Police Station, said two groups of young men were quarreling near Bhengulia Hafizia madrasa this evening while Mubarak and several others were returning home from a wedding party.

When Mubarak and others tried to stop the quarrel, one of the groups, equipped with a knife and homemade arms, attacked them and stabbed Mobarak in the throat, the OC said.

Four other people were also injured in the clash, said the police official.

They were taken to Chandpur Government General Hospital where doctors declared Mobarak dead, said the OC, adding that police are looking into the matter.
