Accused 'commits suicide' in custody
Another accused of Rathish murder case died at a hospital, after he was found hanging inside Rangpur jail yesterday.
Kamrul Islam, 48, committed suicide, claimed jailer Amzad Hossain Don.
He had been suffering from diabetes, hypertension and cardiac complications, he added.
He was taken to the hospital immediately after a jail guard noticed that he was hanging by a shawl from window grilles, said the jailer.
Kamrul was a colleague and involved in an extramarital affair with Snigdha Bhowmik, wife of the murdered lawyer, Rathish Chandra Bhowmik, according to law enforcers.
In April this year, Milon Chandra Mohanda, 30, an accused of the case, died at RMCH.
Rathish was strangled after being drugged at his residence in the city's Tazhat Mollapara area on March 29. Police recovered his body from a pit around 500 metres away from the house.
Afterwards, police arrested Kamrul and Snigdha, who confessed to the murder before a court.
