Law Minister Anisul Huq has distributed relief materials worth Tk 2.81 crore among 40,000 poor and helpless families at his Kasba and Akhaura constituency in Brahmanbaria since March 24 to tackle the crisis stemming from the coronavirus outbreak.
He has managed the fund from his own source of income and from local leaders and activists of the ruling Awami League, Md Rezaul Karim, public relations officer of the law ministry, told The Daily Star.
Anisul Huq himself was engaged in monitoring the purchasing and distribution activitiesof relief materials including rice, lentil, oil, salt, onion and soap among helpless families in the area, said a press release of the ministry.
He is also taking steps for sending relief materials to the people instantly after receiving phone calls from those in need.
The law minister has recently given Eid-ul-Fitr gifts worth Tk 42 lakh to 10,000 poor people in Kasba and Akhaura area, according to the press release.
