Jubo League man murdered, one held
A local Jubo League leader was hacked to death at Sardarkandi village in Shariatpur’s Naria upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was Imran Sardar, 32, son of late Fazal Sardar of the village, and joint secretary general of Nasasan union unit of Jubo League. He was also the driver of Delwar Hossain Talukdar, former chairman of the union parishad.
Delwar said a gang of criminals hacked Imran when he was returning house by a battery-run easy-bike from his (Delwar) residence.
Critically injured Imran was rushed to Shariatpur General Hospital and then referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition worsened.
He later died on way to DMCH, said Abul Kalam Azad, sub-inspector of Naria Police Station, adding that the body was sent to Shariatpur General Hospital for autopsy.
Delwar demanded justice for the murder.
One Malek Majhi, 58, of the village, was arrested in this connection, said the SI.
