Jubo League leader hacked dead in Bogura
A local Jubo League leader was hacked to death in Sadar upazila of Bogura this evening.
The deceased was identified as Firoz Sheikh (35), general secretary of ward no 4 of the Bogura town unit of Jubo League, and son of Fazlar Rahman of Chak Sutrapur, said Aminul Islam Dablu, secretary of the Bogura district Jubo League.
A group of miscreants stormed into a mess in the town's Jahurul Nagar area around 5:30pm and attacked Firoz with sharp weapons while he was playing cards with friends, said Rezaul Karim, inspector (Investigation) of Sadar Police station.
The attackers also assaulted two of Firoz's friends -- Meemo, 30, and Imran, 28, -- when they tried to save him.
Later, locals rescued the trio and sent them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura, where doctors pronounced Firoz dead.
The motives behind the murder is yet to be known, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting the police official.
Rezaul Karim said they sent the body to the hospital morgue and launched a drive to arrest the attackers.
