Indigenous students want quota retention

Indigenous students at a human chain and rally in the town yesterday demanded retention of five percent allocation of quota privileges for the ethnic minority people in government job recruitment system and higher education.

Around 150 indigenous students joined the programme in front of Bangabandhu Mukto Mancha.

Adivasi Chhatra Parishad, district unit, organised the programme.

Speakers said indigenous people of North Bengal are poor and deprived of different privileges. If the government withdraws quota system, the indigenous people will be more deprived.
