HSC examinee stabbed
A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee was stabbed allegedly by supporters of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Bandigarh Pokkhipara village in Sadar upazila on Monday night.
Laisur Islam, 20, son of Tozammel Hossain, a local BNP activist, became target of the brutal attack as he visited a polling centre on the day of national elections on December 30, said the victim.
Laisur, an HSC examinee from Thakurgaon Technical College in the area, is undergoing treatment at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
The victim at the hospital bed said when he was returning home from an adjacent village, two BCL supporters -- Sohel, 18, son of Hamidur Rahman and Mosharaf, 18, son of Ainuddin of Bandigarh Bilaipara village--intercepted him and stabbed him.
“While stabbing, the attackers asked why I visited Bandigarh Sher-e-Bangla High School polling centre as my father is a local BNP activist,” said Laisur.
Seriously injured Laisur ran away from the place to save himself and became unconscious at one stage.
Later, locals rushed him to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
Nuron Nabi Sabuj, president of Begunbari union unit of BCL, said Sohel and Mosharaf are not the members of BCL.
Sabuj further said he was introduced with Sohel a few months ago but did not know Mosharaf.
It might be a sequel to their family enmity as they were inhabitants of the same village.
Inspector of Thakurgaon Police Station Chitta Ranjan Roy said the victim's uncle filed a case on Monday night, accusing the duo.
Police are conducting raids in different areas to arrest the attackers, said the inspector.
