Help from Police: Physically challenegd Alo now accepted at in-laws’ house
After three long years, finally Alo Begum, a physically challenged housewife, stepped inside her in-laws’ house, thanks to local police for their timely taken initiatives.
Not only Alo’s, but her one-and-a-half-years-old son Morsalin Babla entered his grandfather’s house for the first time on Friday night.
Sub Inspector (SI) of Sadar Police Station Selim Reza went to Alo’s mother Nur Jahan Begum’s house in Dalpatti slum area in the town handed over Alo and her minor son to her father-in-law Azizar Rahman in presence of local public representatives.
Alo, who studied to Class VII at a school for children with disabilities in the town, was married to Milon Islam, 26, son of Azizar Rahman of Kalmati village, at the age of seventeen.
But, just because she has a disability she was not allowed at her father in-laws’ house.
After her husband Milon left her abandoned in March 2017, she gave birth to a baby boy in December the same year.
In absence of her husband, Alo earned her livelihood by selling cakes and boiled eggs at a makeshift shop in the town.
Although she managed to save some money which she spent during her delivery, none of her in-laws took care of her.
“I had a belief that one day I will surely land at my in-laws’ house and today it came true,” Alo said.
SI Selim said he came to know the matter when Alo visited the police station for filing a case about two months ago.
“As both the families are very poor, so I took the step to solve the issue without recording the case and finally got the success,” SI Selim said.
Mozammel Haque, a member of ward no 1 under Khuniyagachh Union Parihsad, said as the area is under his jurisdiction he will keep an eye on Alo and her son.
