Govt will decide on Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad, says Attorney General
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin today said the government will decide after considering the overall situation whether it will send BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for her treatment.
"I think the government has to come to the court for this purpose (to send Khaleda abroad for treatment) as the government has done it (suspended her jail sentence) under Section 401 (of the Code of Criminal Procedure). Nevertheless, I cannot say specifically about it without seeing the relevant documents and laws," he said while talking to reporters at his office on the Supreme Court premises.
The attorney general also said the government will decide considering all issues and whether the necessary treatment is possible in the country.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was shifted to the Coronary Care unit of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka yesterday afternoon, after she was having breathing issues.
She was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Tuesday night for some medical tests after she tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time on April 24.
