Fourth grader raped by brothers in Bogura, family claims

A fourth grader has been raped allegedly by a youth and his brother in Dhunat upazila of Bogura.

The alleged rapists are Fajal Sheikh (24) and his sixteen-year-old brother, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting police.

Police arrested Fajal's brother last night hours after the victim's father filed a rape case against the siblings with Dhunat Police Station, said Gaziur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (Sherpur Circle).

The arrestee was sent to jail by a district court today while his brother Fajal went into hiding after the incident, said the police official.

The 11-year-old girl is taking treatment at the One-Stop Crisis Centre of the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, Bogura, and now she is out of danger, added Gaziur.

Kripa Sindhubala, officer-in-charge of Dhunat Police Station, said the victim was watching television alone in a room on Monday night while her younger brother was sleeping.

At that time, neighbours Fajal and his brother entered the room to watch television. Around, 10:30pm, Fajal sent his brother to buy cigarettes and raped the girl. When the boy returned, Fajal left the room. Later, Fajal's brother also raped the victim, the OC quoted the girl's family and case statement.

The victim and her younger brother were living with their grandparents as their parents are living in Dhaka for work, said the police official.

The victim was first taken to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital yesterday noon.

Hearing of the incident, victim's father returned from Dhaka yesterday and filed the case against the brothers, reports our Bogura correspondent.
