Former national footballer Lutfar Rahman no more
Former national footballer Md Lutfar Rahman, a member of the independent Bengali football team, died in Jashore today at the age of 69.
He breathed his last at 9:00am at his residence in Jashore town, former BKSP hockey head coach Kawsar Ali confirmed.
Lutfar was bedridden for a long time after suffering a brain stroke at the end of December 2016.
In July this year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid Tk 30 lakh for Lutfar's medical treatment and other expenses. On July 15, the PM handed over a check of Tk 5 lakh and a savings certificate of Tk 25 lakh to Lutfar Rahman's wife, Majeda Rahman.
He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter and numerous well-wishers.
