Forging of HC Writ: Bail prayer denied, 27 brickfield owners land in jail
A Dinajpur court yesterday sent 27 brickfield owners to jail after denying their bail prayer in a case for making a fake writ of the High Court (HC).
They appeared before the Court of District and Sessions Judge Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan, after the term of their bail earlier granted by HC ended yesterday.
The 27 brickfield owners are Rabiul Alam of RB Bricks, AZM Rezwanul Haque of HB Bricks, Nur Alam and Ibrahim Ali of Arnab Bricks, Fakhrul Islam of Bari Bricks, Rezwanul Haque of ARB Bricks, Tashriful Islam of RT Bricks, Zikrul Islam of Haq Traders, Amanullah Pramanik of SA Bricks, Ataur Rahman, Sirajul Islam, Shahriar Iftekharul Alam of ZS Bricks, Nazrul Islam of 5 Star Bricks, Rezaul Islam of Maisha Bricks, Polash Kumar Roy of SP Bricks, Shafiqul Islam of Shafi Bricks, Masudur Rahman of Nabi Bricks, Lokman Hakim of LHB Bricks of Phulbari upazila, Masud Rana of MB Bricks, Rabiul Hasan of AM Bricks of Biral upazila, Nazmul Huda of NH Bricks, Rafiqul Islam of RA Bricks-1 and RA Bricks-2 of Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur, Polin Chandra Roy of RP Bricks and Mahfuzul Haque of AR Bricks of Dinajpur Sadar upazila, SM Haidar of AS Bricks of Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur, Shafiqur Rahman of NRB Bricks of Saidpur of Nilphamari and Kudrati Khuda and Md Asaduzzaman of Kazi Bricks of Badarganj upazila of Rangpur.
Following an HC directive, Abdul Hamid, sub-inspector (SI) of Parbatipur Police Station, lodged a case with the station on June 20 accusing the owners of 31 brick kilns, situated at different places of Dinajpur, Rangpur and Nilphamari for operating their brick kilns, making a fake writ of the HC, said Abu Sayeed, second officer of Parbatipur Police Station, also investigation officer of the case.
Four other accused will hopefully surrender before the court soon, he said.
A High Court bench led by Justice Md Ashraful Islam and Justice Mohammad Ali had directed police to sue the 31 brickfield operators on May 20, said police.
