Flood: Red alert issued in Lalmonirhat as Teesta flowing 53cm above danger level
The Water Development Board has issued a red alert at Teesta Barrage Point area under Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district as the river is flowing 53 centimetres above the danger level at the point.
The red alert was announced tonight around 9:30pm, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent quoting Hafizul Islam, sub-divisional engineer of Dalia WDB.
All residents of the areas near the barrage have been advised to move to a safe location.
The water level saw a sharp rise after India opened up all the gates of the barrage following an increase in flow of water from upstream.
