Firearms seized in C'nawabganj

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive on Tuesday night seized firearms, ammunition and gunpowder from bordering Tarapur village in Shibganj upazila.

A BGB team from Masudpur Border Observation Post (BOP), acting on a tip-off, raided Tarapur village, some 20 yards from the border zero line, around 10:10pm and challenged three people, seeing their suspicious movement, Commanding Officer (CO) of BGB 53 Battalion Lt Col Sajjad Sarwar said.

However, sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the trio fled the scene and left a bag behind, the CO said, adding that after searching the bag the BGB troops recovered two pistols, two magazines, eleven bullets and 5.5kg gunpowder.
