FFs demand punishment for Reza’s killers
Freedom Fighters in Tangail formed a human chain in the town yesterday, demanding capital punishment of those who killed fellow freedom fighter Miah Mohammad Hasan Ali Reza.
Speakers at the programme, held at Nirala Intersection from 11:00am, said although police detained the killers within the shortest possible time, now they demand capital punishment of the killers through quick trial.
They said they want exemplary punishment of the killers so that none of the freedom fighters have to face such brutal act in future.
Advocate Reza, 76, also a central committee leader of Krishak Sramik Janata League, went out of his Sabalia residence on July 8 remained missing since then.
Later on July 13, police recovered Reza’s decomposed body from the Louhajang river. Police later arrested Tapan Kumar Sarkar, 50, his wife Kalpana Rani Sarkar, 40, their son Tonmoy Kumar Sarkar, 20, and one Sharif Hossain, 40, in connection with the murder.
Of them, Kalpana Rani Sarkar gave her confessional statement under Section 164 before a Tangail court.
In her statement Kalpana said she was in a relationship with Advocate Reza for seven years.
After entering her house, Reza suddenly fell sick and died, she said, adding that scared over the matter they later dumped his body in the Louhajang river.
