Fake MP candidate sent to jail

A fake independent MP candidate of Kurigram-3 (Ulipur) constituency was sent to jail through Kurigram Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The arrestee is Dudu Joddar, 35, son of Dhania Joddar of Jonyedanga village in Ulipur municipality under Ulipur upazila.

Police said Dudu was claiming to be an independent MP candidate of Kurigram-3 constituency and campaigning with 'helicopter' symbol in Ulipur town on Monday.

Observing his campaign, police arrested him with posters and a loudspeaker as there is no independent candidate in the constituency.

“Dudu is a resident of my ward No-8 under Ulipur municipality. He has been facing mental problem for long,” said ward Commissioner Sohrab Ali.

“We sent Dudu to the court. A doctor can tell if Dudu is suffering from any metal complication,” said Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moazzem Hossen.
