Drug peddler gets life term

A Sirajganj court yesterday sentenced a drug peddler to life term imprisonment in connection with a case for possessing contraband Phensidyl. 

The convict, Abdul Malek, 35, is a resident of Char Satbaria village in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rustom Ali pronounced the verdict in a crowded court room in the afternoon.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested Malek with 590 bottles of Phensidyl from Kashinathpur intersection in Santhia upazila of Pabna in January, 2012.

After investigation, police submitted charge-sheet against Malek on January 5 in 2013.
