Death of Couple: Murder case filed in Faridpur
A case has been filed against unidentified people in connection with the death of a married couple in Faridpur Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Rajib Biswas, 34, son of late Nirajan Biswas, and his wife Smriti Banik, 22, of Ujani village in Gopalganj's Mukshudpur upazila. Rajib was a private tutor while Smriti studied at Government Saroda Sundari Mohila College.
Niloy Banik, elder brother of Smriti Banik, yesterday filed the murder case with Faridpur Sadar Police Station, said Morshad Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
The couple used to live in a rented house at Puba Khabashpur in Sadar upazila.
On information, police recovered the bodies of Rajib and Smriti from the house around 8:00pm on Monday.
Locals saw Rajib hanging from a ceiling fan and his wife on the bed through the window of the house and informed police.
The OC suspects that Rajib strangled Smriti before hanging himself from the ceiling fan following a family feud.
The bodies were handed over to the family members after autopsy, said the police official.
