Ctg port worker shot dead

A man was shot dead by unknown assailants in Chokoria upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.

The deceased – Md Lokman (30) -- was involved in loading and unloading operations at the Chattogram port under a transport company, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting the victim's wife Rifa.

Hailing from Kalarmarpara village in Kutubdiaupazila of Cox's Bazar, Lokman along with his wife went to visit his in-laws at MalumghatDumkhali village recently.

Lokman was gunned down in Malumghat Ringbong Notun Masjid area around 4:30am when he went out of his in-laws' house for going to Chattogram to collect his salary, his wife said.

According to locals, they heard a gunshot and saw a white microbus fleeing the scene.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, officer-in-charge of Chokoria Police Station MdHabibur Rahman told our correspondent.

Police are looking into the matter, he added.
