Barguna Minibus Workers' (Sramik) Union called an indefinite transport strike in all internal routes of the district since yesterday morning, protesting the attack on their leader Imam Hasan, general secretary of the organization, on Friday.

They also staged a demonstration in the town and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.

Victim's relatives said a gang intercepted Imam, also chairman of Sarishamuri Union Parishad under Betagi upazila, in Kalikabari area on Friday afternoon and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
