Bus service resumes after four days
Plying of passenger buses on Kushtia-Meherpur road resumed yesterday after four days of suspension from July 12.
The announcement came after transport owners and workers agree to resume bus service during a meeting at Meherpur deputy commissioner’s office yesterday.
Bus service on Meherpur-Kushtia and Meherpur-Chuadanga routes came to a halt on Thursday after Meherpur Motor Sramik Union called an indefinite strike to press home their one-point demand.
Transport workers have long been demanding one trip, up and down, instead of two trips daily.
Meherpur Motor Sramik Union General Secretary Motiur Rahman said we have withdrawn the strike after the owners’ association agreed to meet our demand.
“We have reached in a peaceful solution regarding the transport workers demand,” Meherpur Transport Owners’ Association General Secretary Golam Rasul said.
