Former employee of Brac stabbed to death in Cox’s Bazar
A former employee of Brac, a Bangladesh-based non-government organisation, was stabbed to death by unidentified criminals in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar tonight.
The deceased was identified as Mazharul Islam, hailing from Kolonirhat of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur, said Abul Mnasur, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station.
Mazharul suffered injuries after criminals stabbed him indiscriminately on Pachshim Morichya-Gurairardweep road around 8:30pm, the OC said quoting locals.
Local people rescued the NGO employee and took him to Ukhia Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, the OC told our Cox's Bazar correspondent.
When contacted, Rajib Bhowmick, head of media and external relations, said Mazharul was terminated in April last year. A case was also filed against him for not returning office ID card, laptop and other documents.
