Boy caned by teacher lands in hospital

A 10-year-old boy, who was mercilessly beaten by his schoolteacher, groans in pain at Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex in Habiganj.

The victim is Md Abdal Mia, a student of Class IV of Rampur Government Primary School.

Classmates said when Abdal failed to answer a question, acting headmaster Alauddin asked him he was late after tiffin period. At one stage, he started beating the boy mercilessly and the latter fell to the ground at one point on Saturday.

Abdal's parents took him to the health complex.

Abdal's father Md Jalal Mia said he will go to police for taking action against the teacher.

Alaudding said he had beaten the boy but not mercilessly.

Dr Abdul Awal Khan said serious injury marks were found in the lower part of his back and right hand.

Md Zillur Rahman, assistant education officer of the upazila, said action will be taken against the teacher after investigation.
