Body of a police constable, who went missing during a clash with a group of fishermen in the Meghna river in Haimchar upazila on Friday night, was recovered from Hizla upazila in Barishal yesterday.
Locals spotted the floating body of Mosharraf Hossain, 32, from Charlama area in the upazila 11:00am and informed the police, Officer in Charge (OC) of Haimchar Police Station Sheikh Mohsin Alam said.
Mosharraf, a constable at Haimchar Police Station, hailed from Babarkunda village in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.
Earlier on Friday night, a police team went to Charkoralia area on a trawler to arrest an accused.
Sensing the presence of police and fearing arrest, a group of fishermen swooped on the policemen that triggered a clash between them.
At one stage, Mosharaf fell from the trawler he was boarding and went missing since then, the OC said.
