Bangladeshi Idol singer Pangkaj found dead

Bangladeshi Idol singer Pangkaj Kanti Devnath, aged 29, was found dead at his house in Bandarban town early yesterday.

Pangkaj was in the final top eight list of the Bangladeshi Idol, aired in 2013 on a television channel.

His family members and friends said the singer might have taken his own life after sending a 17-second video clip to several of his closest friends on Facebook Messenger, saying ‘goodbye’ to someone.

Soon after receiving the video clip, his friends hurriedly went to his house around 1:00am and found his hanging body after breaking open the door of his room.

Ashish Barua, one of his friends, said, “We rushed him to Bandarban Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.”

Bandarban Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Shahidul Islam said, “As directed by the deputy commissioner, we handed over Pangkaj’s body without [conducting] autopsy.”
