Bagerhat Murder: 3 ‘suspects’ held
Police in a drive early Friday detained three youths from different areas for their alleged involvement in connection with a case for killing a tea-stall owner for money in Morrelganj upazila on Wednesday.
The arrestees were identified as Tariqul Islam, 20, Badal Sardar, 29, and Asif Sheikh, 19. They all hail from Kharikhali village in the upazila.
Police produced the arrestees before a Bagerhat court on Friday afternoon that rejected their bail prayers and sent them to jail.
Officer in Charge (OC) of Morrelganj Police Station Monirul Islam said the detainees are all friends of deceased Abu Hanif Fakir, 25.
During primary interrogation the arrestees confessed their involvement in the murder.
They said Hanif used to work at a garment factory in the capital before returning home amid the corona situation and starting a tea-stall at his native village.
Recently, Hanif received about Tk 1 lakh dues from his factory through mobile banking agent bKash.
The culprits call Hanif out of his house on Wednesday night, took him to an isolated place and put pressure on him for the bKash PIN number.
As he refused to give the PIN number, the trio hacked him to death with sharp weapons and duped his body in adjacent Bhatkhali Beel.
