Auto-rickshaw driver found murdered

Police recovered the body of an auto-rickshaw driver from Purannagar village in Phulpur upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased is Mamun Mia, 14, son of late Siraj Uddin of the village.

Quoting victim's family members, police said Mamun, a lone bread earner of his three member family, used to drive an auto-rickshaw owned by one Dulal Mia of adjacent Shailya village in the upazila.

Mamun went out of his house along with the vehicle on Monday night and did not return home, said Mazharul Haque, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station.

Locals spotted his body lying beside a bush at the village and informed the police.

Around 9:30pm, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Criminals might have strangled the boy and dumped the body there before taking away his vehicle, the OC added.
