Alleged criminal killed by ‘rivals’ in Pabna
A man has been hacked to death by "rivals" in Pabna's Santhia upazila.
The deceased Antor Hossain, 30, was accused in several criminal cases and had a long-standing feud with a local criminal group over establishing supremacy in Ganghati area of the upazila, said Nasirul Alam, officer-in-charge of Ataikula Police Station.
The incident took place yesterday evening when the culprits hacked him in the upazila's Ganghati Maniktola village following an altercation between the victim and the assailants, the OC claimed.
"He might have killed him over previous enmity. Police are investigating the incident," OC Nasirul Alam said.
Antor's hands were severed from the wrist during the attack, the police official said.
Locals rescued the victim and took him to Pabna Medical College Hospital but the doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as his condition was critical. He died while being taken to RMCH last night, the OC also said.
The body of the deceased has been kept at Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
