AL in field, BNP men on the run
When supporters of grand alliance-backed Bikolpo Dhara candidate for Moulvibazar-2 constituency (Kulaura upazila) are busy in carrying out their campaign, main opponent BNP has fallen into a deep crisis in fear of arrest at the same time ahead of the upcoming polls.
After losing its organisational strength following the failed anti-government movement the party has recently started a fresh fight centring the election, BNP sources said, adding that the embattled party men are now very worried following the arrest of many of their fellows.
While talking to this correspondent some senior BNP leaders said if such a situation continues it will be very difficult for them to run the election race.
Oikyafront candidate Sultan Mohammad Monsur Ahmed, who is contesting the polls against Bikolpo Dhara aspirant MM Shaheen with 'boat' symbol, said, his main opponent is campaigning in full swing, but his supporters, especially BNP men, cannot even hold any indoor meetings.
BNP upazila unit President Kamal Uddin Ahmed alleged that if such a situation continues against their party activists they would consider not going to the election centres.
Meanwhile, Bikolpo Dhara candidate MM Shaheen said they were passing a busy time in carrying out campaign in different areas with 'boat' symbol.
