AL activist hacked to death in Jashore
An Awami League activist has been hacked to death, allegedly over land dispute, in Chowgacha upazila of Jashore.
The deceased was identified as Mominur Rahman, 50, a local of Laskarpur village, our Benapole correspondent reports.
Family sources said, the murder took place over leasing a pond.
Mominur was catching fishing in the pond when one Yunus, another lessee, attacked him (Mominur), they claimed.
He was whisked off to local upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
Subrata Kumar Bagchi, a physician at the hospital, said Mominur was brought dead.
Chowgacha Upazila Parishad Chairman Mostanisur Rahman affirmed that the deceased was an activist of the ruling party.
Rifat Khan Rajib, officer-in-charge of Chowgacha Police Station, said the body was sent to Jashore Medical College morgue for autopsy.
