ACC submits charge sheet
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday submitted the charge sheet against 23 officials of Barapukuria Cola Mining Company Limited for misappropriation of over Tk 243.28 crore, exactly after a year of filing the case.
Abu Hena Ashiqur Rahman, ACC deputy director in Dinajpur, submitted the charge sheet before Judge Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan of Senior Special Judge’s Court, on behalf of Shamsul Alam, deputy director at ACC headquarter and also the investing officer of the case, around 11:00am.
Sources at Dinajpur ACC office said the charge sheet reached its Dinajpur office on Tuesday from the ACC headquarter in Dhaka.
Twenty three officials, including seven former managing directors (MDs) of the company were made accused in the case while five others were acquitted as charges brought against them were not proved.
Earlier, on July 24 last year, a case was filed with Dinajpur’s Parbatipur Police Station in connection with the disappearance of huge quantity of coal from the company yard.
According to the findings, the accused officials sold 1.43 lakh tonnes of coal worth Tk 243.28 crore to local buyers and misappropriated the money between 2006 and 2018.
