5 held for gang-raping RMG worker in N’ganj

Five people were arrested for gang-raping a 25-year-old ready-made garment worker in Sonargaon upazila of Naryanganj last night, police said.

The arrestees are: Abu Said, 24, Imran Uddin, 25, Rony Hossain, 22, Abul Hossain, 30, Masud Mia, 26, said Md Ahsan Ullah, inspector of Sonargaon Taltala Police Station.

Two more accused—Arif Hossain, 20, and Zahangir Hossain, 28, are still absconding, he told our Naryanganj correspondent.

The garment worker was gang-raped when she was going to Gauchia by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after finishing duty at Robin Tex garment factory in Rupganj last night.

The victim was sent to Naryanganj General Hospital for treatment.

A case was filed in this regard this afternoon, said Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Sonargaon Police Station.

The arrestees confessed to their crimes in primary interrogation, he added.
