Five accused in the murder case of madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi of Feni’s Sonagazi have been placed on remand.
Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain remanded them on various terms after Police Bureau of Information (PBI) sought them in for questioning.
Accused Iftekhair Uddin Rana, Imran Hosen alias Mamun and Mohiudin alias Shakil were placed on five-day remand, said PBI Inspector Md Shah Alam.
“This is their first remand term,” he said.
The two others – Shahadat Hosen Shamim and Javed Hosen alias Shakhawat Hosen Javed – have been placed on a fresh term of two-day remand.
Nusrat was set on fire at an examination centre on April 6 because she reported a sexual assault. The hineous act was committed allegedly by students loyal to Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula.
After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on April 10.
