4 foreign airlines seek permission to resume flights from Dhaka

Four foreign airlines have sought permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh to resume regular flight operations from Dhaka.

The airlines are Emirates, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai and Turkish Airlines.

Of the four airlines, Turkish Airlines has shown an interest in resuming flights from July 1 and the remaining three have said they are ready to resume flights as soon as they get the permission to do so.

Air Arabia wants to operate flights on the Dhaka-Sharjah route, Fly Dubai and Emirates want to operate flights on the Dhaka-Dubai route while Turkish Airlines wants to operate flights on the Dhaka-Istanbul route.

"We are evaluating their applications. We have planned to give permission to foreign airlines…," Caab Chief Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman told The Daily Star

After resumption of flight operations on international routes on a limited scale from June 16, CAAB has so far given permission to only Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Qatar Airways to operate flights on the Dhaka-London and the Dhaka-Doha routes.
