30 village girls get bicycles in Pabna
A total of 30 girl students from different schools of Solimpur union in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila are given bicycles for bringing women empowerment.
Solimpur union parishad took the initiative to empower the girl students in the union and to facilitate easy transport for girls to go to school.
The girl students were given the bicycles in a programme held at the Solimpur union parishad premises organized by the union parishad authority on this noon, our Pabna correspondent reports.
Chairman of the union parishad Abdul Mazid Bablu Malicha chaired the programme while the deputy director of Local Government Department Salma Khatun spoke as the chief guest.
Ishwardi upazila Nirbahi officer Ahmed Hossain Vuia, Ishwardi upazila education officer Selim Akter, local AL leaders MA Kader and Alam Mohammed spoke among others on the occasion.
“In our society female students often do not get freedom. Village girls are falling even more behind in the race. Through riding the bicycles the girl students will get the spirit of freedom and empowerment for the betterment in future,” Abdul Mazid Babalu Malicha said.
When the girl students will come to schools and return home riding their bicycles then the other girl students and women in the villages will also be inspired to move towards empowerment, he said.
