3 newsmen seek nomination
Three journalists have submitted nomination papers for contesting in the upcoming parliamentary election for Patuakhali-4 (Kalapara, Rangabali) constituency while the chairman of Gopalpur Upazila Parishad in Tangail resigned from the post for the same purpose.
Our Patuakhali Correspondent reports: Bipul Hawlader, former president of Kalapara Press Club, also president of Kalapara municipality unit Awami League (AL), and Md Delwar Hossain, former vice president of Kalapara Press Club, also vice president of Kalapara upazila unit AL, submitted their nomination papers to the party for Patuakhali-4.
Bipul is also the incumbent mayor of Kalapara municipality.
Shihab Parvez Mithu, founding member of Kalapara Press Club, also convenor of JSD's (Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal) Kalapara upazila unit, also submitted his nomination paper to the party.
The three aspirants expressed hope of getting nomination and winning in the polls.
Our Tangail correspondent adds: Gopalpur Upazila Parishad chairman Yunus Islam Talukder Thandu has resigned from his post as he is an aspirant for Awami League's (AL) nomination to contest in Tangail-2 constituency in the upcoming national election.
"I submitted the resignation letter to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Thursday and have already sent copies of the letter to all the members of the party's parliamentary board. I am hopeful of getting nomination from the party," he told this correspondent yesterday.
