Five people were killed and 11 others injured in separate road accidents in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat and Gozaria upazila of Munshiganj yesterday.
In Bagerhat, three people were killed as a stone-laden truck hit a stationary truck on Rampal Thermal Power Plant Road in Rampal upazila this noon.
The deceased were the driver and two helpers of the stationary truck, Md Tuhin Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Rampal Police Station, told our Bagerhat correspondent.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The accident took place around 1:45pm leaving three people dead on the spot and another injured, the OC said.
The injured was taken to Rampal Upazila Health Complex, he added.
On information, fire-fighting units from Bagerhat Fire Service recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Munshiganj, two people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus flipped over after crashing with a covered van on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Gozaria around 2:00pm.
One of the deceased was identified as Md Hosen, 48, from Cumilla, Kabir Hosen Khan, officer-in-charge of Bhoberchar Highway Police Outpost, told our Munshiganj correspondent. The identity of the other deceased could not be known yet.
The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Gozaria Health Complex, the OC added.
