25 injured in villagers’ clash

At least 25 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over fishing in a water body at Santoshpur village in Habiganj’s Lakhai upazila on Wednesday night.

Quoting eyewitnesses, police said an altercation took place between supporters of Suresh Das, 45, son of Romesh Das, and Jadav Das, 39, son of Hemendra Das, of the village over ownership of a local water body.

As sequel to the conflict, both the groups equipped with sticks with lethal weapons attacked each other around 8:00pm that left 25 people from both sides injured.
