2 sisters die under train
Two teenage sisters were crushed under the wheels of a running train on Dhaka-Chattogram route in Shimrailkandi area of the district yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Shirina Akter, 14, a student at a local madrasa, and her younger sister Pushpa Akter, 13, a Class VI student at Niaz Mohammad High School in the town
They were daughters of Shafiqul Islam and residents of Islampur village in Bijoynagar upazila of the district.
In-Charge of Brahmanbaria Government Railway Police (GRP) Sub-Inspector (SI) Sanaul Islam said locals spotted the two dead bodies lying on the railway track around 4:00pm and informed the police.
Police went to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent those to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the SI said, adding that Pushpa's body was found in two pieces while Shirina died of head injuries.
SI Sanaul said they suspect that the two sisters might have gone under the wheels of the train and got crushed to death while walking along the railway tracks yesterday afternoon.
