2 die after being electrocuted in Kurigram

Two people died after being electrocuted and another was injured in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram today.

The deceased were identified as Taiyab Ali (46) and Hakim Uddin (53) of Nagarpara village in Ulipur upazila, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.

Locals said Taiyab was repairing an electrical wire in his house while neighbour Hakim and his wife Asima Begum were assisting him, as there was no electricity supply.

The trio was electrocuted when the wire suddenly became live, the locals said.

The injured were rushed to Ulipur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared Taiyab and Hakim dead. Asima was being treated at the hospital.

Dr Maidul Islam, resident medical officer (RMO) of Ulipur Upazila Health Complex, said three people were electrocuted and two of them died before reaching the hospital.

Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ulipur Police Station, also confirmed the deaths.
