2 cops, mother, girl injured in brawl

Two policemen, injured during a clash while investigating a case at Putiakhali village in Rajapur upazila on Wednesday night, were admitted to upazila health complex.

On charge of attack, police arrested Habiba Akter, daughter of Mawlana Abdul Haque, her mother and another sister.

Habiba and her mother, who were also injured during the incident, were given first aid yesterday.

SI Feroj Ahamed and constable Ayub Ali of Rajapur Police Station went for a probe after Anwar Hossain filed a land grabbing case against his relative Haque, his sons and daughters.

“We went to the spot and started talking with Haque and his family. Arguments followed and some women hit us,” said Feroj. Haque's family refuted the allegation.

Seeking anonymity, a police officer and a few neighbours said Feroj hurled abuses and pushed Haque and then Haque's daughters hit the cops.
