13 sub-inspectors of Brahmanbaria Sadar transferred
Thirteen sub-inspectors of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station were transferred together as per the order of the deputy inspector general's office of Chattogram Range.
Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police (administration and crime) Md Roish Uddin confirmed the news to The Daily Star yesterday.
Of them, 10 sub-inspectors were transferred in the "people's interest" while three were transferred for "administrative reasons", Additional SP Roish said quoting the office order.
SI Mohammad Jaynal Abedin and Topu Saha were transferred to Bandarban district, Md Shah Shab Khan and Md Motiur Rahman were transferred to Khagrachhari district, Md Humayun Kabir, Md Tofazzal Hossain, Bazlur Rahman Khan, SM Atikuzzaman, Md Amir Hamza and Beauty Rani Das were transferred to Rangamati district, SI Md Mizanur Rahman was transferred to Chandpur, Md Nurul Amin was to Noakhali and Md Shafikul Islam was transferred to Laxmipur.
The transferred police officers were asked to collect their passes to join their new workplace by May 29 or they would be treated as "stand released" from May 30, he said.
The transfers come two months after Hefajat-e-Islam activists carried out violence in Brahmanbaria from March 26 to March 28 centring Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh.
With this, a total of 19 police officers, including the assistant superintendent of police and the officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, have been transferred since the mayhem.
