10 shops gutted in Narsingdi gas cylinder blast

Ten shops were gutted in a fire at Arshinagar area of Narsingdi municipality today.

Fire fighters and shop owners said the fire originated as a gas cylinder of a shop exploded at around noon today and soon engulfed nine other shops in the area, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent, quoting Nurul Islam, deputy assistant director of Narsingdi Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze in an hour, he added.

No casualty was reported as all the shops were closed due to the 10-day nationwide shutdown to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Valuables worth Tk 15 lakh were damaged in the fire, shop owners claimed.
