10 hurt in clash
Ten people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Gopalia village in Saltha upazila yesterday.
Police fired 12 rubber bullets and 10 teargas shells to bring the situation under control, said Md Delwar Hossain, OC of Saltha Police Station.
Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Ayub Ali, an assistant teacher of Narandia High School, and Hafizur Rahman, an assistant teacher of Yusufdia Government Primary School, over a land dispute.
They locked in an altercation at a waj mahfil at Gopalil Madrasa on Monday night.
As a sequel, men of the two rivals attacked each other with lethal weapons yesterday morning, leaving 10 people of both sides injured.
The two teachers blamed each other for the incident.
