Mother suffers stroke as son dies in Saudi blast
The death of Mohiuddin Rashed in a cylinder blast in Saudi Arabia brought further tragedy to the family as his mother, who suffered a stroke after receiving the news, is fighting for life at hospital.
Rashed's mother Kulfurer Nesa was admitted to Feni Diabetic Hospital on Wednesday night and shifted to Feni Sadar Hospital yesterday morning.
Six Bangladeshi workers including Mohiuddin Rashed of Feni died in a gas cylinder blast in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday morning. Another sustained serious burn injuries.
Rashed, 35, only son of Kulfurer Nesa and Rafiqul Islam of Elias Member Bari at Uttar Birinchi area of ward No 5 under Feni municipality, was married with Shikha Majumder and they have three kids – Jihan, 9, Safwa, 5, and five-month-old Alif.
Rashed's two elder sisters were earlier married.
After arrival of her husband's death news, Shikha fell unconscious several times.
The family's lone bread-earner Rashed went to Saudi Arabia three months ago in the hope of improving their lot.
Losing the only son, Rafiqul Islam is in despair.
The atmosphere in the house is gloomy with wailing of family members and relatives.
Kulfurer Nesa is still unconscious and not out of danger, said Reazur Rahman Chowdhury, resident medical officer of Feni Sadar Hospital.
